Catalina Soto Campos joins AK Sportpromotions

Following several international female cyclists, the 21-years-old talented Chilean cyclist Catalina Soto Campos has also chosen to be represented by AK Sportpromotions. We are happy to tell that we are going to do her management, to help her to make further steps in her career. Soto Campos, who is racing for the UCI continental team Bizkaia Durango, this year showed her talent among other things by becoming national time trial champion of her country and to win silver in the road race of the Pan American championships.

Soto Campos grew up in Chile, before moving to Australia at the age of 14. She experienced cycling in both countries, before coming to Europe and has with that already quite some international experience, next to speaking both English and Spanish. On international level, she already showed her talent with top results in stages of the Tour de l’Ardeche and Setmana Ciclista Valenciana in the past two years. This year she has not only shown herself at the earlier mentioned championships, but also in both international races as in the Spanish Cup.

Aschwin Kruders, owner of AK Sportpromotions: “I follow Catalina already for a few years and got in touch with her already a while ago. After a few talks, we noticed that there is a good click and I believe that this will be the start of a good and long collaboration. Catalina is a rider that can bring something extra, with both a good climb and strong sprint, next to her will to improve and mentality to always want to race.”

Racing for the win
“Besides the international races, I also saw Catalina race in the Spanish Cup for example, where she won a race this year and was fighting for the win at others. Those races have a high level and it is important that riders of her age also learn to race for the win, instead of only fighting with the big names in the World Tour. These races gave me an even better idea about what Catalina can do towards the future.”
