After showing herself as a junior in the past two seasons, the Finish talent Wilma Aintila has signed a contract with the Lotto Dstny Ladies Team. The Belgium based team, that in 2023 will have a new title sponsor with Dstny, is focussing on the development of young riders and has mostly U23 riders in their squad. Aintila this season got sixth in the time trial of the European championships and twelfth in the time trial of the world championships. With Lotto Dstny she will make her debut in the elite women peloton.
“I am looking forward to race with a new team and get to know and meet lots of new people, and build a good team relationship with them”, Aintila says about her move from the junior ranks to a UCI-women’s continental team. “They are a successful and well working team with good riders, that I know will help me and my racing go up to the next level from juniors. I am also very excited to go to some big races and see how my level compares to the experienced elite riders.”

Wilma Aintila tekent contract bij Lotto Dstny
Na zich de afgelopen twee seizoenen als junior te hebben getoond, heeft het Finse talent Wilma Aintila een contract getekend bij het Lotto Dstny Ladies Team. Het in België gevestigde team, dat in 2023 een nieuwe titelsponsor krijgt met Dstny, richt zich op de ontwikkeling van jonge rensters en heeft voornamelijk U23-renners in de ploeg. Aintila werd dit seizoen zesde in de tijdrit van de Europese kampioenschappen en twaalfde in de tijdrit van de wereldkampioenschappen. Met Lotto Dstny maakt ze haar debuut in het elite vrouwenpeloton.
“Ik kijk ernaar uit om met een nieuw team te racen, veel nieuwe mensen te leren kennen en te ontmoeten, en een goede teamrelatie met hen op te bouwen”, zegt Aintila over haar overstap van de junioren naar een continentaal UCI-vrouwenteam. “Ze zijn een succesvol en goed werkend team met goede rensters, waarvan ik weet dat ze mij en mijn racen zullen helpen om naar het volgende niveau te gaan na de junioren. Ik ben ook erg opgewonden om naar een aantal grote wedstrijden te gaan en te zien hoe mijn niveau zich verhoudt tot de ervaren elite rensters.”
