South African top cyclist Ashleigh Moolman Pasio continues her career for one more year. The 37-years-old rider has signed a new contract with her team AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step until the end of 2024. That has been announced this Wednesday, during a press moment in which the team also announced their team for the upcoming Tour de France. Moolman Pasio will be leading the group there, racing for the yellow jersey. She will get the support of Mireia Benito, Lotta Henttala and Maaike Boogaard, among others.
Moolman Pasio joined the AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step team this year and up to now it has been one of the best seasons in her career. She started in February with a stage win in the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, after which she got second in the general classification behind her teammate Justine Ghekiere, after a perfect tactical game of the team. She also won the Spanish one-day race Durango-Durango and a stage in the Tour de Pyrénées. In that race she got second in the general classification, while in the Vuelta a Burgos she ended third after four days of racing.
Tour de France Femmes
At the press moment, AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step also announced their team for the Tour de France Femmes, as said before. Next to Moolman Pasio three other riders represented by AK Sportpromotions will be part of the group. Those are Lotta Henttala (Finland), Mireia Benito (Spain) and Maaike Boogaard (The Netherlands). Henttala made her come back in the peloton this year after giving birth. With success, as the sprinter already got four podium spots and was close to that as well in big races like the World Tour Ronde van Drenthe and Nokere Koerse. Benito recently impressed, becoming Spanish champion in the time trial.

Ashleigh Moolman Pasio gaat verder bij AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step
De Zuid-Afrikaanse topwielrenster Ashleigh Moolman Pasio zet haar carrière nog een jaar voort. De 37-jarige renster heeft bij haar ploeg AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step een nieuw contract getekend tot eind 2024. Dat is deze woensdag bekendgemaakt tijdens een persmoment waarin de ploeg ook haar team voor de komende Tour de France presenteerde. Moolman Pasio zal de groep daar gaan leiden in de strijd om de gele trui. Ze krijgt de steun van onder andere Mireia Benito, Lotta Henttala en Maaike Boogaard.
Moolman Pasio sloot dit jaar aan bij het team van AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step en tot nu toe was het een van de beste seizoenen uit haar carrière. Ze begon in februari met een ritzege in de Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, waarna ze na een perfect tactisch spel van de ploeg tweede werd in het algemeen klassement, achter haar ploeggenote Justine Ghekiere. Ook won ze de Spaanse eendagskoers Durango-Durango en een etappe in de Tour de Pyrénées. In die wedstrijd werd ze tweede in het algemeen klassement, terwijl ze in de Vuelta a Burgos na vier dagen racen derde werd.
Tour de France Femmes
Op het persmoment maakte AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step zoals gezegd ook hun ploeg voor de Tour de France Femmes bekend. Naast Moolman Pasio zullen nog drie andere renners vertegenwoordigd door AK Sportpromotions deel uitmaken van de groep. Dat zijn Lotta Henttala (Finland), Mireia Benito (Spanje) en Maaike Boogaard (Nederland). Henttala maakte dit jaar haar comeback in het peloton na te zijn bevallen. Met succes, want de sprinter behaalde al vier podiumplaatsen en was daar ook dichtbij in grote wedstrijden als de World Tour Ronde van Drenthe en Nokere Koerse. Benito maakte onlangs indruk door Spaans kampioen tijdrijden te worden.
