Cyclist Mireia Benito has joined AK Sportpromotions. The 24-year-old Catalan (Spanish) will have her management taken care of by the company based in the Netherlands. Benito is only in her fourth season as a cyclist, but has already impressed several times with long attacks in major races such as the Flèche Wallonne, the Challenge by La Vuelta and Vuelta a Burgos. She cycles for the Massi-Tactic team, also from Catalonia.
For Benito, working with AK Sportpromotions is a new development in her career. “Because I started cycling late, I don’t know the cycling world well,” she says. “In recent years I have been able to get to know a lot thanks to good people around me, but this is a new step. With the help of Aschwin I hope to take even more new steps to achieve my goals as a cyclist. “
Growing to a higher level
Aschwin Kruders, owner of AK Sportpromotions: “Mireia is very ambitious and that appeals to me. Having talent is one thing, but the will to challenge yourself to get better is just as important. Because she started relatively late, many things are still new for Mireia and I think we can help her with that. I am confident that she will continue to grow to an even higher level in the coming years and I am happy that we will work on that together.”

Management van Mireia Benito door AK Sportpromotions
Wielrenster Mireia Benito heeft zich aangesloten bij AK Sportpromotions. De 24-jarige Catalaanse (Spaanse) laat haar management voortaan verzorgen door het in Nederland gevestigde bedrijf. Benito is pas in haar vierde seizoen als wielrenster bezig, maar maakte al meermaals indruk met lange aanvallen in grote wedstrijden als de Waalse Pijl, Challenge by La Vuelta en Vuelta a Burgos. Ze fietst voor het eveneens uit Catalonië afkomstige team Massi-Tactic.
Voor Benito is het werken met AK Sportpromotions een nieuwe ontwikkeling in haar carrière. “Doordat ik pas laat met wielrennen begonnen ben, ken ik de wielerwereld niet goed”, zo vertelt ze. “In de afgelopen jaren heb ik dankzij goede mensen om me heen al wel kennis kunnen maken met veel, maar dit is een nieuwe stap. Met de hulp van Aschwin hoop ik nog meer nieuwe stappen te zetten, om mijn doelen als wielrenster te bereiken.”
Groeien naar een hoger niveau
Aschwin Kruders, eigenaar van AK Sportpromotions: “Mireia is erg ambitieus en dat spreekt me aan. Talent hebben is één ding, maar de wil om jezelf uit te dagen om beter te worden is minstens zo belangrijk. Doordat ze relatief laat is begonnen, zijn veel dingen nog nieuw voor Mireia en ik denk dat wij haar daar goed bij kunnen helpen. Ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat ze in de komende jaren door gaat groeien naar een nog hoger niveau en ben blij dat we daar samen aan gaan werken.”
