Wielrenster Nicole Steigenga gaat een nieuwe stap in haar carrière maken. Ze heeft een contract getekend bij de Noorse wielerploeg Team Coop – Hitec Products. Dat team heeft een goede reputatie als het gaat om het opleiden van talentvolle rensters. Huidige wereldtoppers als Elisa Longo Borghini, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, Kirsten Wild, Lisa Brennauer, Tatiana Guderzo en Chloe Hosking reden in het verleden allen voor de ploeg.
Zelf is Nicole blij met haar nieuwe team. “Ik zie Team Coop – Hitec Products als een mooie ploeg om door te groeien als renster”, zo zegt ze. “Het is een team met een mooi programma en ambities voor de toekomst. Ik wil mijzelf vooral ontwikkelen als klassieke renster, dus ik vind het heel belangrijk om bij een ploeg te rijden waar klassiekers verreden worden. Daarnaast denk ik dat etappekoersen nodig zijn om sterker te worden. Dat zij beide type wedstrijden rijden, is dus ideaal.”

Nicole Steigenga signs with Team Coop – Hitec Products
Cyclist Nicole Steigenga is going to make a new step in her career. She has signed a contract with the Norwegian cycling team Team Coop – Hitec Products. That team has a good reputation when it comes to developing talented riders. Current world class riders such as Elisa Longo Borghini, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, Kirsten Wild, Lisa Brennauer, Tatiana Guderzo and Chloe Hosking have all raced for the team in the past.
Nicole herself is happy with her new team. “I see Team Coop – Hitec Products as a great team to grow as a rider”, she says. “It is a team with a great program and ambitions for the future. I mainly want to develop myself as a classic rider, so I think it is very important to ride with a team that starts in those classic races. In addition, I think stage races are necessary to be stronger. So, that they compete in both types of competitions is ideal.”
