After a very strong season in which she had her breakthrough, with among others her first UCI-win in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Eibar, Olivia Baril makes a step up to the World Tour next year. The 24-years-old Canadian cyclist has signed a two-years contract for 2023 and 2024 with UAE Team ADQ. She comes over from Valcar – Travel & Service, that yet again helped several riders step up to the highest ranks in women’s cycling, showing to be one of the best development teams.
At UAE Team ADQ, Olivia will see some familiar faces. In the past days the Women’s World Tour team announced that her current teammates Chiara Consonni, Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini also join the team. With them she has fought for wins on the highest level already this year. The four riders together got ten of the thirteen wins of Valcar – Travel & Service this year.
“I’m super excited to join UAE Team ADQ because it is a team which offers me the best environment to continue to progress with the right support”, Olivia says in the press release of the team. “I strongly believe that you must surround yourself by people who can uplift you and who believe in you and those people are for me in the UAE Team ADQ. I am convinced that with the current resources, the skills, the sports management and the riders, the team will become the best female World Tour team in a few years. UAE created the best men’s teams, so I’m confident they will do the same in the women’s team in a short time.”

She showed that not only with her win in Eibar, but during the whole season, with several good results and for example also winning the youth classification in the Tour de Suisse”, AK Sportpromotions owner Aschwin Kruders says. “UAE Team ADQ belongs to the best teams in the world and based on what Olivia was looking for, I think this is for her the best choice for her career. Olivia Baril zet stap omhoog naar UAE Team ADQ
Na een ijzersterk seizoen waarin ze haar doorbraak kende, met onder meer haar eerste UCI-zege in de Gran Premio Ciudad de Eibar, maakt Olivia Baril volgend jaar een overstap naar de World Tour. De 24-jarige Canadese wielrenster heeft een tweejarig contract getekend voor 2023 en 2024 bij UAE Team ADQ. Ze komt over van Valcar – Travel & Service, dat opnieuw verschillende rensters heeft geholpen om op te klimmen naar de hoogste rangen in het vrouwenwielrennen en wederom liet zien één van de beste opleidingsteams te zijn.
Bij UAE Team ADQ zal Olivia enkele bekende gezichten zien. De afgelopen dagen maakte het Women’s World Tour-team bekend dat ook haar huidige teamgenoten Chiara Consonni, Silvia Persico en Eleonora Gasparrini zich bij het team voegen. Met hen heeft ze dit jaar al gestreden voor overwinningen op het hoogste niveau. De vier rensters behaalden dit jaar samen tien van de dertien overwinningen van Valcar – Travel & Service.
“Ik ben super enthousiast om me aan te sluiten bij UAE Team ADQ, omdat het een team is dat me de beste omgeving biedt om me met de juiste ondersteuning verder te ontwikkelen”, zegt Olivia in het persbericht van de ploeg. “Ik ben er sterk van overtuigd dat je je moet omringen met mensen die je beter kunnen maken en in je geloven, en die mensen vind ik in UAE Team ADQ. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat dit team met de huidige middelen, de vaardigheden, het sportmanagement en de renners, over een paar jaar het beste vrouwelijke World Tour-team zal worden. UAE heeft het beste mannenteam gecreëerd, dus ik ben ervan overtuigd dat ze in korte tijd hetzelfde zullen doen met het vrouwenteam.”
