Nicole Steigenga will race for AG Insurance – NXTG in the coming seasons. The 24-year-old Dutch cyclist has signed a three-year contract with the ambitious team, which is part of and works closely with the men’s team Quick Step – Alpha Vinyl. Steigenga comes over from Team Coop – Hitec Products, where she had a successful season so far. For example, she was second four times in various UCI-races.
“I chose AG Insurance-NXTG because I think this is the right team to take that next step”, Nicole says about her move to the team that recently signed Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio, Maaike Boogaard, Mireia Benito and Lotta Henttala among others.”It’s a good group of riders with different talents that are complementary. The team is ambitious, always looks out for each other in the races and they have a clear plan for the future. I would love to be part of that.”
In her career, Nicole showed herself as an attacking cyclist. She has already won stages in the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana and Dubai Womens Tour. At AG Insurance – NXTG she hopes to take the next step in her development. “In the coming years I want to learn how to unlock my full potential within a professional environment. I also would like to learn what it’s like to support a team leader as much as I can since I raced much more independently in my previous teams.”
Perfect match
“In recent years, Nicole has often shown to the peloton what she can do in recent years. However, I am convinced that there is much more within her capabilities”, says AK Sportpromotions owner Aschwin Kruders. “Nicole herself would like to be part of a team where she can learn from riders who have experience at the highest level. She finds them at AG Insurance – NXTG with Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio, Romy Kasper and Lotta Henttala, among others. AG Insurance – NXTG nieuw team voor Nicole Steigenga
Nicole Steigenga rijdt de komende seizoenen voor AG Insurance – NXTG. De 24-jarige Nederlandse wielrenster heeft een driejarig contract getekend bij het ambitieuze team, dat onderdeel uitmaakt van en nauw samenwerkt met de mannenploeg Quick Step – Alpha Vinyl. Steigenga komt over van Team Coop – Hitec Products, waar ze een tot nu toe succesvol seizoen had. Zo werd ze onder meer vier keer tweede in verschillende UCI-wedstrijden.
“Ik heb voor AG Insurance-NXTG gekozen omdat ik denk dat dit het juiste team is om die volgende stap te zetten”, vertelt Nicole zelf over haar overstap naar het team dat zich eerder al onder meer met Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio, Maaike Boogaard, Mireia Benito en Lotta Henttala versterkte. “Het is een goede groep rensters met verschillende talenten die complementair zijn. Het team is ambitieus, zorgt altijd voor elkaar in de races en ze hebben een duidelijk plan voor de toekomst. Ik zou daar graag deel van uitmaken.”
In haar carrière toonde Nicole zich als een aanvallende wielrenster. Ze won onder meer al etappes in de Setmana Ciclista Valenciana en Dubai Womens Tour. Bij AG Insurance – NXTG hoopt ze een volgende stap in haar ontwikkeling te zetten. “De komende jaren wil ik leren hoe ik alles uit mijn potentieel kan halen binnen een professionele omgeving. Ik zou ook graag willen leren hoe het is om een teamleider zoveel mogelijk te ondersteunen, aangezien ik in mijn vorige teams veel zelfstandiger reed.”
Perfecte match
“Nicole heeft in de afgelopen jaren al vaak aan het peloton laten zien wat ze kan. Ik ben er echter van overtuigd dat er nog veel meer binnen haar mogelijkheden ligt”, zegt AK Sportpromotions eigenaar Aschwin Kruders. “Zelf zou Nicole graag eens in een team zitten waar ze kan leren van rensters die ervaring hebben op het hoogste niveau. Die vindt ze bij AG Insurance – NXTG met onder meer Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio, Romy Kasper en Lotta Henttala. Vanaf het eerste gesprek met het team bleek het een perfecte match te zijn en ik feliciteer zowel Nicole als het team dan ook met deze mooie overeenkomst.”
