Australian cyclist Lizzie Stannard and Mareille Meijering from the Netherlands join the new formed Zaaf Cycling Team in 2023. The ambitious formation from the Spanish cycling area Girona is named after and based on the legacy of former Algerian professional cyclist Abdel-Kader Zaaf. In the new cycling season the team will exist of fifteen riders. Next to joining the team, Meijering recently also joined the agency of AK Sportpromotions, that was already representing Stannard.
“The Zaaf Cycling Team has big ambitions towards the future and a good structure with important facilities. I think for both Lizzie (photo top) and Mareille (photo middle) this team is a good new step in their careers”, AK Sportpromotions owner Aschwin Kruders says. “The team is a mix of talents and experienced riders, amongst who are national champions and riders that won on World Tour level. Mareille and Lizzie have both made a good step forward in 2022 and with this team I am sure they will be able to make more steps, with a good team around them and a good racing program. I congratulate both of them with their new team.”

Stannard en Meijering naar nieuw geformeerd Zaaf Cycling Team
De Australische wielrenster Lizzie Stannard en Mareille Meijering uit Nederland treden in 2023 toe tot het nieuw gevormde Zaaf Cycling Team. De ambitieuze formatie uit het Spaanse wielergebied Girona is vernoemd naar en gebaseerd op de erfenis van voormalig Algerijnse profwielrenner Abdel-Kader Zaaf. In het nieuwe wielerseizoen zal de ploeg uit vijftien rensters bestaan. Naast het team is Meijering onlangs ook toegetreden tot het bureau van AK Sportpromotions, dat Stannard al vertegenwoordigde.
“Het Zaaf Cycling Team heeft grote ambities richting de toekomst en een goede structuur met belangrijke faciliteiten. Ik denk dat dit team voor zowel Lizzie (foto top) als Mareille (foto midden) een mooie nieuwe stap in hun carrière is”, zegt AK Sportpromotions-eigenaar Aschwin Kruders. “De ploeg is een mix van talenten en ervaren resters, waaronder nationale kampioenen en renners die op World Tour-niveau wonnen. Mareille en Lizzie hebben beiden een goede stap voorwaarts gemaakt in 2022 en met deze ploeg weet ik zeker dat ze in staat zullen zijn om meer stappen maken, met een goed team om zich heen en een goed wedstrijdprogramma. Ik feliciteer ze allebei met hun nieuwe team.”
