Finland’s most successful female cyclist Lotta Henttala joins EF Pro Cycling. She has signed a two-years-contract with the new formed women’s continental team that will be part of the EF men’s World Tour team. The 34-years-old Henttala this year made a successful comeback in the peloton, after giving birth to a son in 2022. She so far got second in two stages of the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana and in both the road- and time trial championships of her country, fourth in the Ladies Tour of Estonia and sixth in both the World Tour Ronde van Drenthe and Nokere Koerse.
With the above results, Henttala showed her strength again. But the former winner of Gent-Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen and a bronze medal at the world championships, wants more. In EF Pro Cycling she finds a complete new team, that will benefit from the already existing structure of their men’s team. “I am really looking forward to the upcoming years”, Henttala says. “Getting back to racing this season has had up’s and down’s. It has motivated me even more. This women’s team might be new, but the men’s team does have a big history and I have already noticed we will have a very strong group of riders. I am sure we are going to show ourselves in a very good way.”

Lotta Henttala verhuist naar EF Pro Cycling
Finlands meest succesvolle wielrenster Lotta Henttala sluit zich aan bij EF Pro Cycling. Ze heeft een tweejarig contract getekend bij het nieuw gevormde continentale vrouwenteam dat deel zal uitmaken van het EF mannen World Tour-team. De 34-jarige Henttala maakte dit jaar een succesvolle comeback in het peloton, nadat ze in 2022 beviel van een zoon. Ze werd tot nu toe tweede in twee etappes van de Setmana Ciclista Valenciana en in zowel de weg- als tijdritkampioenschappen van haar land, vierde in de Ladies Tour of Estonia en zesde in zowel de World Tour Ronde van Drenthe als Nokere Koerse.
Met bovenstaande resultaten liet Henttala weer haar kracht zien. Maar de oud-winnares van Gent-Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen en brons op het WK wil meer. In EF Pro Cycling vindt ze een compleet nieuw team, dat zal profiteren van de reeds bestaande structuur van hun mannenteam. “Ik kijk erg uit naar de komende jaren”, zegt Henttala. “Het opnieuw beginnen met koersen ging dit jaar met ups en downs. Het heeft me nog meer gemotiveerd. Dit vrouwenteam is misschien nieuw, maar het mannenteam heeft een grote geschiedenis en ik heb al gemerkt dat we een zeer sterke groep rensters zullen hebben. Ik weet zeker dat we ons op een hele goede manier gaan laten zien.”
