The ambitious team AG Insurance – NXTG has signed Mireia Benito Pellicer for the upcoming two seasons. With that, the 25-years-old rider from Catalunya (Spain) takes a step up in her career, after four years with the Massi-Tactic Women Team. Benito showed her aggressive style of racing in the past seasons, but in 2022 it was noticed that her level had grown. She for example impressed with a fourth place in the Navarra Women’s Elite Classic. On Sunday Benito will also be part of the Spanish team during the road race of the European championships.
AG Insurance – NXTG is strengthening its team towards the upcoming season and already signed Maaike Boogaard, who is also represented by AK Sportpromotions, and Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio last week. “I feel so proud and so excited to be a part of the Wolfpack”, Benito says. “I think that I can learn a lot from my experienced teammates and also of all the staff. For me this year will be a year of huge changes, so I feel extra motivated to give my all and to keep enjoying cycling the way I did until now.”
Benito started cycling on the age of 20, after playing basketball first. She has quite fast grown into a rider that can compete on international level. With her new team she now turns professional. “AG Insurance – NXTG is giving me the opportunity to live a complete new experience working on being a better cyclist and meanwhile growing as a person. For next season I was looking for a team that gives a lot of importance to the teamwork and this is exactly what I saw in their team. When Natascha explained me the whole project, I immediately knew that I wanted to be part of this and represent the values that this team stands for.”
Well deserved chance
“Coming into a sport like cycling later than others is not easy and successfully combining it with two Master studies even more. That Mireia has done that and even stepped up this season, says all about her motivation and passion”, AK Sportpromotions owner Aschwin Kruders says. “This is a chance she deserves and I am very sure Mireia will give all she has to make it a success. I am very happy that with AK Sportpromotions we could make this move possible and congratulate her with her new team!”

Mireia Benito sluit aan bij AG Insurance – NXTG
Het ambitieuze team AG Insurance – NXTG heeft Mireia Benito Pellicer vastgelegd voor de komende twee seizoenen. Daarmee zet de 25-jarige wielrenster uit Catalonië (Spanje) een stap vooruit in haar carrière, na vier jaar bij het Massi-Tactic Women Team. Benito toonde haar agressieve manier van fietsen in de afgelopen seizoenen, maar in 2022 werd duidelijk dat haar niveau gegroeid is. Zo maakte ze indruk met een vierde plaats in de Navarra Women’s Elite Classic. Zondag maakt Benito ook deel uit van het Spaanse team tijdens de wegwedstrijd van de Europese kampioenschappen.
AG Insurance – NXTG versterkt zijn team richting het komende seizoen en heeft vorige week Maaike Boogaard, die ook wordt vertegenwoordigd door AK Sportpromotions, en Ashleigh Moolman – Pasio al getekend. “Ik voel me trots en opgewonden om deel uit te maken van de Wolfpack”, zegt Benito. “Ik denk dat ik veel kan leren van mijn ervaren teamgenoten en ook van alle stafleden. Voor mij wordt dit jaar een jaar van grote veranderingen, dus ik voel me extra gemotiveerd om alles te geven en te blijven genieten van fietsen zoals ik tot nu deed.”
Benito begon op 20-jarige leeftijd met fietsen, nadat ze eerst basketbal speelde. Ze is vrij snel uitgegroeid tot een renster die internationaal mee kan. Met haar nieuwe team wordt ze nu professional. “AG Insurance – NXTG geeft me de kans om een compleet nieuwe ervaring te beleven door te werken aan het worden van een betere wielrenster en ondertussen te groeien als persoon. Voor volgend seizoen was ik op zoek naar een team dat veel belang hecht aan teamwork en dit is precies wat ik in hun team zag. Toen Natascha me het hele project uitlegde, wist ik meteen dat ik hier deel van uit wilde maken en de waarden wilde vertegenwoordigen waar dit team voor staat.”
Welverdiende kans
“Later dan anderen in een sport als wielrennen komen is niet makkelijk en nog meer om het succesvol te combineren met twee masteropleidingen. Dat Mireia dat heeft gedaan en dit seizoen zelfs een stap omhoog heeft gezet, zegt alles over haar motivatie en passie”, AK Sportpromotions eigenaar Aschwin Kruders zegt. “Dit is een kans die ze verdient en ik ben er zeker van dat Mireia alles zal geven om er een succes van te maken. Ik ben erg blij dat we met AK Sportpromotions deze stap mogelijk hebben kunnen maken en feliciteer haar met haar nieuwe team!”
