The talented 19-years-old Australian cyclist Neve Bradbury has renewed her contract with Canyon-Sram. She will at least stay one more year with the German based Women’s World Tour team. After winning the Zwift Academy, Neve joined Canyon-Sram in the beginning of 2021. As a first year U23- and elite cyclist, she showed herself for example with a ninth place in the first stage of the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, but also had to overcome difficult situations. With that the past season was important in her development and she learned a lot.
“I’m keen to continue to learn as much from them as I can”, Neve says about her stay with Canyon-Sram. “My first year racing at this level has been a steep learning curve! On the positive side, I’ve been able to race with, and learn from, some very inspiring people all around the world. On the other hand, living away from my family and friends back in Australia for most of the year, and not knowing whether I’d be able to return home due to the pandemic travel restrictions has been difficult.”
Also in the peloton, Neve learned a lot, a few times the hard way. “I had three crashes in three consecutive races which meant I lost my confidence and I had to work hard to regain it.” In the last part of the season, she did show that she made a step. “There are many things I can work on moving forward into 2022. I feel fortunate I have the opportunity to do that at CANYON//SRAM Racing.”

Neve Bradbury klaar voor nog een jaar bij Canyon-Sram
De getalenteerde 19-jarige Australische wielrenster Neve Bradbury heeft haar contract bij Canyon-Sram verlengd. Ze blijft in ieder geval nog een jaar bij het Duitse Women’s World Tour team. Na het winnen van de Zwift Academy trad Neve begin 2021 toe tot Canyon-Sram. Als eerstejaars belofte- en eliterenster toonde ze zich bijvoorbeeld met een negende plaats in de eerste etappe van de Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, maar moest ze ook moeilijke situaties overwinnen. Daarbij was het afgelopen seizoen belangrijk in haar ontwikkeling en heeft ze veel geleerd.
“Ik wil graag zoveel mogelijk van hen blijven leren”, zegt Neve over haar contractverlenging bij Canyon-Sram. “Mijn eerste jaar dat ik op dit niveau racete, was een steile leercurve! Positief is dat ik heb kunnen racen met en leren van een aantal zeer inspirerende mensen over de hele wereld. Van de andere kant; weg zijn van mijn familie en vrienden in Australië voor het grootste deel van het jaar, niet wetende of ik naar huis zou kunnen terugkeren vanwege de pandemische reisbeperkingen, was lastig.”
Ook in het peloton heeft Neve veel geleerd, een paar keer op de harde manier. “Ik had drie valpartijen in drie opeenvolgende wedstrijden, wat betekende dat ik mijn vertrouwen verloor en ik moest hard werken om het terug te krijgen.” In het laatste deel van het seizoen liet ze wel zien dat ze een stap heeft gezet. “Er zijn veel dingen waaraan ik kan werken in 2022. Ik voel me gelukkig dat ik de kans krijg om dat te doen bij CANYON//SRAM Racing.”
